Reverend Dr. Susan Crane

R The shared ministry of Rev. Dr. Susan Crane and the congregation of Henderson Memorial Baptist Church came to an end December 31,2019, when Pastor Susan retired.

The shared journey of ministry started over 17 years ago on July 1, 2002. Although the Rev. Dr. Crane retired as pastor of HMBC, she will continue as Association Resource Minister for 16 American Baptist Churches of the West Association of ABCOM.  She will also continue to serve as Coordinator of the Franklin County Ecumenical Heating Fund, which raises funds to help keep our neighbors warm.

The congregation will continue to keep the word of God alive and serve the Lord by serving and caring for their many neighbors in need. You get it – there are many neighbors in need and you care, Crane told the congregation on their last Sunday together. She encouraged members to continue their gifts of cooking and hospitality. Called by the Lord to come to HMBC during a difficult period in the church’s history, Crane’s leadership established a catalyst for church growth and change.

The Diaconate continues to look for an interim pastor.  Until one is found, supply pastors have been asked to preach through January. These include Al Fletcher, executive director for ABCOM on January 5; Louise McCleery on Jan.12; Chandler Woodcock on Jan. 19 and Sharon Workman on Jan. 26.
A Pastoral Search Committee continues their efforts to find the person God is now calling to pastor HMBC.

But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8
